Insomniac’s Sunset Overdrive was favorite game in 2014 and still one of best Xbox One exclusives available. After its debut in October of 2014 we haven’t really heard much about the young IP and its future. Game Informer has had the pleasure in speaking with the studio behind Sunset Overdrive and here’s what Insomniac had to say about Sunset’s future.
“You’d have to ask Microsoft.” But with or without Microsoft’s participation, Sunset Overdrive may grind again.
“We are passionate about that franchise, and we own it, so you may see more Sunset in the future from us,” Price said. “No promises, and no timeline to speak of, but it is something that represents our willingness to create unexpected experiences.”
Insomniac owns the Sunset Overdrive IP, which means a follow up is possible without the assistance of Microsoft. Sunset Overdrive was the first exclusive partnership between Microsoft and Insomniac Games, it would be quite a surprise if Microsoft did not take on a sequel. On the contrary, one could refer to other third party IPs that started as an Xbox exclusive that are now multi-platform titles; games such as Titanfall, BioShock, Dead Rising and Lost Planet come to mind. Exclusive or not, I want Sunset Overdrive 2 how about you?
