Today it was announced that Assassin’s Creed: Origins will be updated in 2018 with a “Discovery Tour” feature – a combat and story-free mode that emphasizes exploration, education and absorbing the game’s setting, Ancient Egypt. Discover Tour will let you walk around the map and get an educational perspective on certain locations, traditions, and people pertaining to the time period in Origins. Thankfully, combat and quests are turned off to fully immerse yourself in the experience.
This is without a doubt one of the best and coolest announcements to come out for the next game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise! I was instantly ecstatic upon hearing the news because one of the core attractions of the AC series is being able to play and interact in a fictional version of real-world history. In Assassin’s Creed: Origins’, players can now interact and fully explore Ancient Egypt while learning its significance in real history. I hope this becomes the standard in many open-world video games, not just the AC series since it really does add to the immersion of the beautiful worlds developers are getting so good at making.
Discovery Tour will be a free update to the game in 2018. Assassin’s Creed: Origins will release worldwide on October 27, 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
